Meet The Colleagues
Zach's Service Bio
Over my two years with the Peace Corps in Namibia, I helped to form and work alongside a community group that taught in villages and schools near the hospital. This group named themselves Shigwana Penduka or "Community Awaken" and tasked themselves with educating people in villages surrounding the community about the importance of being tested for HIV/AIDS. We worked to develop a patient database to track patients on anti-retroviral (HIV) medications. Some of my Krista Foundation Grant funds helped to enhance my work in the program.
I also taught daily computer classes to grades 4-6 and to nurses in the hospital.
The Krista Foundation Grant also allowed me to go to China, where I spent 3 weeks studying community health programs around the country.
Now I do public health related data analysis at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. In my current project, I'm working on a large dataset for an ethnically diverse group of study subjects at higher risk for different kinds of cancer.
