Out of the Overflow of the Heart.... (Mt. 12:35b)

In a world of great need, join us as we consider service in the midst of lives that are pulled and stretched in competing directions. What overflows the vessel of our heart? Amidst the cracks and crevices, how do we actively and faithfully respond?

Keynote Speaker: Rodger Nishioka is an Associate Professor of Christian Education at Columbia Theological Seminary. Rodger offers encouragement and challenge as we traverse faith and service in our lives. He will speak to how we nurture the spirit, make meaning and find vocation amidst the cacophony of competing opportunities and values. Rodger has authored several books and articles including: Life in the Liquid church: ministry in a consumer culture and The Roots of Who We Are. He speaks on topics ranging from cultural identity, the post-denominational church to the Gospel in a culture of privilege.

Think Globally, Move Locally Hike, Bike & Trike 2009

Time 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Location The family flower farm & home of Steve and Terry Foster - 31515 NE Tolt Hill Rd. Carnation, WA 98014

Description

Prime Location: Start and end at the family flower farm & home of Steve and Terry Foster, located in Carnation. 31515 NE Tolt Hill Rd. Carnation, WA 98014. It's just next to where the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers intersect.

Cyclists/ Bike riders: We'll have two beautiful ride options created by the Fosters themselves, who ride frequently in the valley and beyond.

The 25 miler will stay in the valley, and include scenic but flatter roads. The 'guided' ride wil head out at 9:55 a.m. An excellent choice for a shorter cruise, or a fun challenge for the casual or occasional rider. At the halfway point, you can take a 5 minute hike to the bottom of the beautiful Snoqualmie Falls. (printed cue sheets & map will be available to the event)

The 50 miler leaves (guided) at 7:55a.m. and heads out to North Bend and up past picturesque Snoqualmie Falls, and then climbs to the Cedar River Watershed & Rattlesnake Lake. Return includes a fun descent and some valley views. A perfectly beautiful and challenging yet solid ride for regular cyclists and bike commuters. (printed cue sheets & map will be available at the event)

Hikers walk from the farm toward town and then out across a suspension bridge over the Tolt river and explore the rich forest. Wind through park trails while breathing the air that makes the Northwest great. (Length is roughly two miles, but hikers can extend and explore for at least an additional 2 to 3 miles!)

Tricyclists/kids! There will be a course set up in the front yard for the little ones to show off their biking skills.

REGISTRATION SUMMARY

  • 25 mile Valley Loop & Falls: Registration open 9-10am. (guided ride rolls @ 9:55am)
  • 50 mile Rattlesnake Lake & Back: Registration open 6:45am-8:00am. (guided ride rolls @ 7:55am)
  • 2-4 mile Tolt-MacDonald Hike: Registration open 9-11am (guided  2 mile walk leaves @ 10:15am)

POTLUCK!

We will be providing a main food course and lemonade to drink, and will ask attendees to contribute side dishes. Be on the lookout for emails with further details. If you have a specialty you want to share, please email us (service@kristafoundation.org) so we can start organizing our feast!

Important Info

Note: In the past we've had TGML t-shirts included at the event. This year, to make cost as low as possible we're selling our newly released Krista Foundation T-shirts (not TGML specific) will be on sale the day of the event. If you plan to buy one, please make note on the registration form and specify size (bring cash or check).

Also, do not forget to pack a blanket and a small lawn/camping chair to stay warm and comfy when the sun isn't around.

Memorial Day Weekend Conference 2009

Location Spokane, WA

Description

Dear Colleagues,

As the conference quickly approaches, we look forward to seeing as many as you as possible! Join us for a weekend to re-connect with fellow colleagues, meet new people and hear our delightful Keynote speaker Moses Pulei guide us through the theme of "Shifting Ground, Solid Ground". Our conference theme will highlight some of the major trends/shifts during the last ten years and their implications as we head into the next decade of figuring out how to live the art and science of global citizenship and ‘service as a way of life'.

The Krista Foundation will cover Krista Colleague travel/room/board for three conferences. We will also cover spouse/fiancé room and board 3 times as well (we can sometimes help with travel).

Been to more than 3? (If you aren't sure, e-mail me!) We'd still LOVE you to come & help mentor, network and encourage others on their service journey! Clearwater Lodge kindly offers an ‘at cost' rate for returning Colleague families.
